      Mindfulness Meditation

      Come join our weekly group mindfulness meditation classes, starting 18 November at 7.30pm! What is mindfulness? In its simplest form, mindfulness means awareness - and particularly awareness of the present moment. We use of a set of techniques to train the mind to focus on the now through breathing, mental imagery, self-awareness and relaxation. What are the benefits? Regular practice reduces stress and anxiety, improves heart conditions, lowers blood pressure and improves sleep. It also increases the brain's ability to repair itself and grow new neural connections. Mindfulness helps gain greater self-awareness and generally helps people feel more positive about themselves and life in general. How can mindfulness help me at work? Practicing it at work can help to reduce stress, anxiety and conflict by increasing resilience and emotional intelligence. This can translate to improvement in communication which would in turn make a difference in productivity. In addition, people who practice mindfulness have an increased ability to focus on the work at hand along with an increased capacity for memory and decreased tendency to go on ‘autopilot’ or ‘zone out’ at meetings. How much is it? The classes are on donation basis: suggested donation is minimum £5 (plus admin fees if paying online) or £5 in person. If not paying online, please let me know you are coming for logistics - or check if it's going ahead as I have a minimum attendance number.
